We have removed the geo-blocking for BlackBerry devices.
This means if your station is using a Radionomy stream listeners from the USA and Canada will be able to connect to your stream as usual when they are on a BlackBerry device.

The Apple apps from Nobex are unblocked, at least for the U.S. (I don't know about Canada).

The Android app will not be unblocked until each producer goes to Nobex and takes "ownership" of their app as required by Nobex.

What do you mean by take ownership? We have dedicated app created by nobex partners.. we already "own" them..

It's complicated, having to do with the way GooglePlay operates. I believe it was spelled out in Nobex emails to the partners (I'm not a partner but read about it in the facebook group). Contact them if you didn't get the word.

Actually Nobex is responsible to Google for the apps as they have been submitted to the Google Play Store under the Nobex Developer account. By you "taking ownership" Nobex is moving the app to your Developer account, which you need to get from Google for $25.00US. Nobex may also be charging a fee to manually move the app from their account to yours. Both initially and every time you request a change to the app.

They are doing this because Google only allows "three strikes" to a Developer account before the account is terminated forever. Nobex can get in trouble from Google for claims against individual apps that have a copyright claim against them (i.e. logo issue) or a DCMA take down request. With Nobex having 1000s of apps, these would all be in jeopardy of being removed from the Google store if the Nobex Developer account gets three strikes.

So they are offering Radionomy Producers to "take ownership" and hence become legally responsible for the app. Thus if there are reported issues to Google for the app then all the other Nobex apps are not removed from the Play Store. Only your app would be taken down if Google receives claims against the app or its content, i.e. the three strikes. Bottom line is they are removing the legalities of content for the Google app and putting it on the Radionomy Producer.

If you decide this course the app geoblocking with Nobex will be removed.

Ahh I see.. yeah they "offer" that to us.. but for an added $50 USD which is currently not in the budget and likely won't be anytime soon.

Lets hope that when all this mess is straightened out, we get TuneIn and Nobex back in non-geoblocked areas.
