Hello,

Radionomy is responsible for music rights for all the radio stations on our platform. This does not change! We are currently working on a new agreement with SABAM and it takes time. SABAM, and other music licensing companies, is a long time partner with whom we like to work.

If you receive a letter or email from SABAM (or others), just scan it and forward it to support@radionomy.com with the following subject "SABAM + your radio name". If you want to answer to SABAM yourself, you can tell them you are hosted on Radionomy's platform and that for music rights they should take contact with our legal department.

We will come back with more info on the above subject in a couple of days.

Have a nice weekend,
Jef & Jean-Thomas

PS: Technical problems on the platform have nothing to do with this subject by the way.

Hi Jean-Thomas

this is great to hear! and will try not to worry :)

could you perhaps tell us, if negotiations are going on, why SABAM is sending out these demanding letters and why is this all been reported all over the net that the contract between the two of you is broken? i think its these things that is causing a bit of worry among the Producers, is it a mistake on behalf of SABAM or a rather heavy handed bargaining tactic

any way lets hope this is cleared up soon (very soon) and that you WILL let us know officially, exactly what the status between you and SABAM is and will be in the future

all the best

martin

Sounds like a pressure play by SABAM to get what they want by pressuring or scare the Producers to get Radionomy to agree to SABAM's demands.

I agree - standard practice in some businesses it seems. And we all know how reluctant radionomy is to part with any cash at all - which is understandable considering its business model, but not something that shows it in good light to potential advertisers.

It is almost ten days since you said "We will come back with more info on the above subject in a couple of days". Is there any progress, or a timescale for resolution of this matter?

Searching SABAM and Radionomy on Google shows quite a few radio's have shut themselves down because of this.
Why are you guys keeping everyone in the dark? Producers shouldn't have found out by receiving communication directly from SABAM a month and a half after the agreement expired. Should a new agreement have not been reached months before the expiration?
As elmbury said, it has been more then a couple of days since you said you would return with an update...

I do not like the way Radionomy communicates with us, anyway I believe that as "producers" nobody must fear problems; I work professionaly with rights´ management, and I think that the trick is that we are *producers*, not *(web)radio stations*; it means that we provide contents to Radionomy, and Radionomy uses our contents on *its* radio channels; in other words, you think you are a radio, but you are not, the radio is Radionomy; this can be a good or a bad solution, points of view, however as "producers", SABAM and other rights´ society do not handle rights directly with us; and this is the reason why Radionomy tell us: if somebody wants something, say them to write us - because the right rights´ partner is Radionomy; the only open question could be: if Radionomy doesn´t find a good agreement with SABAM, will they close? probably not, in such a situation I simply would move my servers in a country with a more friendly rights´ society...
