I got the Sony take down email from TuneIn for 2 of my stations tonight. So, I contacted TuneIn and requested they remove the other 5 stations. And in my own way of fighting the good fight, I am on a crusade to tell anyone and everyone to boycott anything with the name Sony on it. I know it won't hurt them any, but it will give me a small amount of gratification.

Sorry to hear this and thanks for the update.

I'm right there with you on the Sony ban.

Sorry Leo. I have a bad feeling TuneIn may only be the beginning.

I just receive a take down email from TuneIn too. Thanks for the idea of asking them to remove my other stations. For the record, my station only used songs in the Radionomy library. I hope this gets sorted out soon. I hope to keep the stations on Shoutcast.

Thanks,
Nick

I got my notice from Tunein today as well...so I've removed all reference to them from any of my social media and websites.

And I'm with you on the Sony ban...I'e been a big user of their products over the years but no more. Might be tme to introduce a #boycottsony hashtag...:)

The reason you're being targeted is because you have links on your website that link directly to tunein or to a player other than Radionomy's player. Your website can ONLY launch the Radionomy player to be compliant.

You can be on tunein, but listeners have to find you there themselves. Only use the Radionomy listen link on your site and you should be fine.

Understand that YOU are not licensed to broadcast on the internet unless you have direct licenses with Sony, etc. You are a producer for Radionomy. It is Radionomy that is licensed to broadcast. If you have a link anywhere on your site that is not a Radionomy link, you'll be flagged every time, because now you ARE acting as the direct broadcaster... and you're not licensed.

Sony isn't banning anything. The are ensuring that only licensed broadcasters are using their copyrighted material.

SkyLyneRadio, for example, on your site, "skylyneradio.com/country", your using a pop-up player that is not Radionomy. Be careful. If you keep broadcasting that way, which is unlicensed and illegal, particularly if you're broadcasting from the United States, being pulled from tunein may only be the beginning of your trouble.

Perhaps, but if SoundExchange hasn't been paid since 2014 we're all in the same boat.

So much for our Producer Pact. It should have been in writing and signed by both parties.

From what I've seen, SoftRockDan's theory isn't going to work anymore. According to a letter sent by Sony to TuneIn, they are asking them to take down all Radionomy stations.

"I write concerning webcaster Radionomy. Thousands of user-curated Radionmy stations are available on the TuneIn service. All or substantially all of them seem to be infringing, as I explain further below. These stations cannot all be located easily by Sony Music, but they can be located easily by TuneIn, because the "radionomy.com" domain name appears in the stream URL used by TuneIn to make them available to TuneIn users. Sony Music seeks the takedown of all such stations"

Basically, Sony is done targeting specific stations and has pulled out the big guns to just wipe Radionomy completely off of the TuneIn platform.
